As a fairly new concept, E-cigarettes and E-Liquids are often treated with suspicion. Many people, who very well may have given up smoking, are often warded away from e-cigs due to the myths surrounding them. Nicotine is often the main problem, people believing this to be the harmful substance within tobacco. It is true that nicotine is addictive, but the real killers in tobacco are the thousands of chemicals added and which are inhaled into your lungs. Beneath you can find some more of the myths about vaping that are simply not true.

Is Nicotine Poisonous

The fact of the matter is that, although nicotine shouldn’t be eaten or taken in large doses, it is actually no more poisonous than caffeine. As with everything, excess can be harmful, even oxygen and water, the very source of life for everything on earth, is dangerous in large quantities. So, in that case, as long as you stay within the recommended dosages, you’ll be fine.

The only place where nicotine is found in significant dosages is in cigarettes, Nicotine Replacement Therapy such as nicotine gum and lozenges, or in e-liquids. Due to these all being made within safe parameters of what can be ingested, it is very difficult to overdose using these methods.

Nicotine as an addictive drug

Nicotine is addictive, and it is a drug. The nicotine reacts with the chemicals in your brain to release dopamine, the chemical in our body which relates to feeling happy. This is much the same as caffeine, which also reacts with your brain and gives you a perk up. This is the same, by and large with all drugs. So why have I classed this as a myth? Many people are bound to be anti-nicotine due to its addictive qualities but this all comes down to context. If the substance you are addicted to is not harming your body or your mental wellbeing then surely there is no problem with it. This is the reasoning behind the switch from cigarettes to e-cigs. Everything will change, except for the nicotine you are ingesting, the least harmful of the components within smoking cigarettes.

Nicotine Stains

The name here is misleading. Those stains that come with smoking can leave yellow and brown marks on your teeth and finger nails which are very difficult to get rid of and can come across as very unappealing to some people. These are one of the things that in itself should have smokers transition to e-cigs. The name would lead you to believe that it os the nicotine within the cigarettes that lead to these stains but it is in fact the tar within them. This tar is also the culprit for clogging up lungs and one of the reasons for the dreaded smokers cough. The fact is, none of the ingredients for yellowing fingers and teeth are in e-cigs as the only thing you are ingesting is nicotine, flavouorings and water vapour.

Nicotine is a carcinogen

There are many things that, recent studies have shown have carcinogens withyin them. Carcinogens are chemicals that have been found to lead to diseases like cancer if ingested for too long and in large amounts. Many foods have been found to include these chemicals as well but, as some people would lead you to believe, nicotine does not. And that goes for the other ingredients within vape-juice. Water and the flavourings do not create a mixture with any carcinogens within them. This means that you can vape without the worry about developing terrible diseases such as cancer and any of the other illnesses that have been found to have been instigated by smoking tobacco.

Nicotine is not the bad guy

Of course, if you can avoid getting addicted to something, then by all means avoid nicotine. You can still vape, however, without nicotine’s involvement. But do keep in mind that nicotine is one of the less harmful substances within smoking tobacco. This means that you can vape without having to worry about the negative effects of smoking. Recent studies have shown that many people who make the jump from tobacco to e-cigarettes will never look back. It can bring more flavour than tobacco does to your life and you can control the amount of nicotine found within your E-flavours.
