Vaping is no doubt trending, due largely to the fact that It’s a viable, less damaging alternative to smoking. That’s why so many former tobacco users are suddenly switching to e-cig liquids.
But, even with so many benefits of vaping and with so many people making the switch, there are still some annoying issues that are associated with vaping, most notably leakage and spitback of the e cig juice.
If you’re new to vaping, spitback is when excess liquid gets sucked back into the user’s mouth through the mouthpiece. As you can imagine, this isn’t exactly a pleasant sensation. Vapers are constantly in search of solutions, hoping to eliminate the problem entirely and enjoy electronic cigarettes without any drawbacks. Luckily, we have the answers!
In this brief guide, we’ll cover the issue of spitback and provide you with some pointers on how to counter this problem, regardless of what might be causing it.
Never leave your device upside down
Even perfectly functional vaping pens can produce spitback if they are left in a position that allows the liquid to flow back into the mouthpiece. Blame it on gravity.
The first drag from a device that’s been left upside down is very likely to produce some spitback, and the foul taste could linger for the remainder of that vaping session. Fortunately, this can be remedied quickly and easily. All you have to do is store your vape in an upright position when you’re not using it and take care to be consistent in how and where you put it away after use. It’s an easy fix!
Check and clean the coils and contacts
Faulty contacts are another reason why your device might be flooding, so checking whether the coils are connected and fully operational is a necessary (but hands-on) step.
Here’s how it works: If the device isn’t getting enough power, it may be producing a lower temperature, which in turn causes the liquid to stay in its fluid form. Cleaning the coils with isopropyl alcohol is a quick procedure that might restore the vape pod to its original state and fix the issue.
If that fails, it may be time to replace your vaping device with a new one that doesn’t leak.
Use higher power settings to vaporise excess liquid
Perhaps the most convenient way to get rid of excess liquid that might spill into your mouth is to burn it off with a higher power setting before you actually start vaping.
By vaporising the excess liquid, you should be able to eliminate spitback and enjoy the flavour of your e-cigarette. But, don’t forget to return the settings to normal wattage before you put the device in your mouth!
Try a thicker e-cig liquid
If you tried all of the above tricks and still haven’t fixed your spitback problem, maybe you should investigate the liquid you are using.
If its consistency isn’t terribly thick, it may be possible for some of it to slip through the mouthpiece. Fortunately, spitback issues caused by thin liquid are very easy to correct. Simply change the type of liquid you are putting into the vape pen.
