The vaping industry is a booming market, and is growing exponentially from year to year. By the end of 2017, the industry is expected to hit the $5 billion mark! But despite the amount of money this market makes, there are still many people out there who are completely clueless as to what it’s all about. Questions asking whether vaping is safe, or even what it actually is are common. Asking questions is always good as it keeps you well informed and shows you have a thirst for knowledge. In this article we will run through a quick guide on the basics, including what vaping is, and whether it’s safe for you.
What Exactly Is Vaping?
Good question: Vaping is when you inhale and exhale water vapour which is produced by an electrical device called an E-cigarette. Water vapour is the E-liquid is gaseous form just in case you were wondering. This gaseous substance looks thicker than cigarette smoke but dissipates a lot quicker into the air and smells a hell of a lot better, usually like sweets, fruit, mint, or even a drink. Vaping is tobacco free and so it’s technically not smoking, because there is, no smoke! So in simple terms, vaping is smoking but without the tobacco, the horrible smell, and all the horrible cancer related health risks and even the Smoke. Instead of popping to your local shop to get a packet of cigarettes, you use an electronic device which has a tank and is usually refillable and chargeable.
So What Does A Vape Consist Of?
A vaporizer or vape consists of a battery, mouthpiece, cartridges, cartomizer, atomizer, and circuitry with a sensor. A cartomizer is the more modern version of the atomizer, as it combines the cartridge and cartomizer into one unit. The cartridge is the thing that contains the E-liquid or vape juice, and the atomizer has a heating element which is usually a thin metal coil that is heated up thanks to the power generated by the battery. When you take a drag on the mouthpiece, the battery heats up the coil, which is much hotter than the boiling point of the E-liquid, and it naturally turns to vapour. This vapour is then inhaled by you and it reaches the lungs before it is inhaled. The E-liquid usually contains a blend of PG/VG (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine), flavouring, and nicotine.
Vaping Has Become A Worldwide Phenomenon
You may have heard about vaping at your local bar or perhaps you heard a news story about them. Maybe you walked past one of the new vape stores that have been shooting up everywhere. That however, is just the tip of the iceberg. Vaping has become its own culture and vape manufactures have been selling merchandise with their name on it. There are online communities and forums and vape bars when you can go just to vape! There are even stories about vaping becoming a competitive sport where people called ‘cloud chasers’ compete to see who can make the biggest, thickest plumes of smoke. There are so many communities surrounding vaping and we’re sure it’s just going to keep on increasing!
Know The Regulations
The TPD have recently released new laws about tobacco and some of the rules include changes to the way people Vape. There have been limits put on the amount of nicotine in E-liquids, and limits to bottle sizes. Warning labels also have been made mandatory, and now every E-liquid bottle sports a sign reminding you about nicotine addiction. Though the rules may seem a little harsh, it hasn’t stopped many people from kicking heir cigarette habit and switching to vaping for good. While it may require an initial investment financially, it’s is definitely better for your wallet or purse in the long run, especially since the new tobacco laws mean you need to buy a lot more tobacco and cigarettes if you run out.
