There have been many innovations to vaping in recent years, and temperature controls is just one of them.
Vaping has come a long way since it was first introduced in the mid noughties. From the original cigalike, we’ve seen many innovations which have made them more flexible and personalised in recent years. Whether it’s a new sub ohm vaping device or innovative juices from your local vape shop, the possibilities are seemingly endless when it comes to vaping.
So, where do you start as an intermediate? If you’re looking for a good way to explore new ways to vape and you’re sick of the same old single mode vape pens, then temperature control devices may be the right way forward for you.
What is temperature control vaping?
Temperature Control vaping refers to vape devices which give you the chance to set a maximum temperature for your vape device. Whether you’re working in Fahrenheit or Celsius, a display on your vape device will give you the chance to input the device’s maximum temperature. Meaning that the coil will not reach heats higher than this. This gives you more control over your device and a range of options which allow you to explore the many ways that you can vape. For instance, some vapers may prefer stronger throat hits, in which case a hotter maximum will be inputted into the device.
How does it work?
The temperature control system will link into the circuitry of your vape device. This means that it will regulate how much power goes into your device for it to reach the temperatures your aiming for. It is also worth noting that the temperature control devices will only work with certain types of coil. Because the temperature control system can push the heat of a vape device to its limits, it’s important that the c oil, where most of the power and heat will be surging through, can withstand the limits, often higher than the average vape device.
The most common coils that are compatible with temperature control vaping are ones made from Stainless Steel, Nickel and Titanium.
Is it better than variable wattage and voltage?
Variable wattage and voltage are another way of exploring the flexibility of vape devices. Whilst these focus on the amount of power going through your device, temperature control instead puts a cap on the power going through. It depends on what you want from your vape device at the end of the day; if you’re looking for high powered sub ohm vaping, then variable wattage and voltage are the way forward. If you’re looking for a safer device working within the regulated mod spectrum, then temperature control devices are generally the right way forwards.
That being said, a lot of the time variable wattage and voltage devices are used alongside temperature control settings, having the two work in tandem to find an equilibrium and your perfect balance of heat and power.
Safety and the TC device
Ensuring that you’re using the right coil is crucial when temperature control vaping. Some coils will simply not work properly without them. Other than that, TC devices working in tandem with variable wattage and voltage controls will help you to avoid spit back as well as your device overheating and potentially exploding, as was seen in the London Euston Station evacuation in August 2017. This massive evacuation was due to a bomb scare, when in reality, a vape device had overheated!
Is TC vaping right for you?
If you’re looking to up your vaping game and explore further than your average vape pen, then temperature control mods are the one for you. Keep in mind however, that you’ll need to learn about the deeper world of vaping and the way the circuits work to find your perfect vaping temperature and power settings. This means that temperature control vaping should eb reserved for at least intermediate term vapers.
